En route to retrieve the Sunday paper Linda found two raccoons cubs on our front porch.
It is hard to determine scale from the images. But when you notice they are next to bricks, you realize they are small. I saw, but did not photograph, the smaller one inside a cell of a cinder block. They were huddled in the corner when we first saw them. Later one climbed the wall and, by the end of the day, they were gone.
If you are a fan of James Lee Burke and his iconic pet raccoon —three legged so he was named, of course, Tripod—you may be tempted to tame them as pets. A short lesson on rabies; parasitic diseases transferable from raccoons to humans and a propensity to bite, even if “tame”, one is quickly dissuaded.
The images show the two cubs in the corner as found, The larger cub on the wall and the remaining one huddled in the corner.
Thanks for looking.
I love the corner shot
Guess they’re all corner shots. I meant the one with both babies.
Wow! These are fabulous. I love the color on the climbing shot–it’s sort of softer and warmer. Amazing!!
